Product Description

Thermo Scientific Niton XL2 Plus Handheld XRF Analyzer

The Thermo Scientific Niton XL2 Plus is a high-performance handheld X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analyzer engineered for advanced elemental analysis across a wide range of materials. Designed as a fully configurable platform, its analytical scope is defined by enabled detection modes aligned to specific industry and application requirements.

With enhanced excitation power and a silicon drift detector (SDD), the XL2 Plus supports fast, repeatable analysis for demanding field and shop-floor workflows, enabling confident on-site decision-making.

Detection Modes and Analytical Scope

The Niton XL2 Plus supports multiple detection modes, each aligned to a distinct analytical workflow. When a detection mode is enabled, all associated calibrations, supported elements, and application contexts for that mode are available automatically.

Detection Mode Analytical Scope Typical Applications
General Alloy Analysis Elemental identification and verification of industrial metal alloys PMI, alloy verification, metal sorting, manufacturing QC
Precious Metals Analysis Elemental analysis and purity assessment of precious-metal–bearing materials Jewelry, bullion and coin analysis, precious metal valuation
Consumer Goods / Plastics Elemental screening of plastics and finished consumer products Consumer goods screening, plastics analysis, compliance workflows
Mining Analysis Field screening of geological and mineral materials Exploration support, grade control, geochemical field analysis
Soil / Environmental Analysis Elemental screening of soils and environmental samples Environmental site screening, soil and sediment analysis
Coatings / Lead in Paint Elemental analysis of surface coatings and painted materials Paint inspection, coatings analysis, regulatory screening workflows
