Fiber cable assemblies play a vital role in both testing and installation workflows, ensuring accurate measurements and dependable network performance. These assemblies include modular cables, test reference cords, and OTDR launch cables that connect instruments to fiber systems with minimal loss. High-quality assemblies are essential for maintaining precision in single-mode and multimode testing environments.

Test Reference Cords

Test reference cords (TRCs) are short, high-precision patch cords used to establish a stable connection between test equipment and the fiber under test. They are manufactured to strict tolerances and are crucial for Tier-1 certification, ensuring repeatable, standards-compliant loss measurements.

Launch Cables

Launch cables, also called launch fibers or launch leads, provide the necessary distance between an OTDR and the first connection under test. By simulating a length of fiber, they allow accurate measurement of connector and splice loss at the near end of the link.

Launch Boxes

Launch boxes—also known as pulse suppressor boxes or fiber rings—encase launch fibers in rugged, portable housings for field use. Available in single-mode and multimode configurations, they protect the fiber while maintaining proper coiling for accurate OTDR measurements.
