Superior Electric SS50 SLO-SYN AC synchronous motor delivers fixed-speed synchronous operation for motion control systems with 120 VAC input, 72 RPM output, and documented SLO-SYN holding torque characteristics.
Superior Electric SS50 is a SLO-SYN AC synchronous motor. It provides fixed-speed synchronous rotation from AC line input for controlled motion tasks that require repeatable speed behavior. The SS50 configuration shown in the supplied literature is rated for 120 VAC operation at 50/60 Hz.
- Permanent-magnet synchronous motor design operates in step with applied AC frequency to produce fixed shaft speed.- Single-phase operation uses a phase-shifting network to create the winding relationship required for motor starting and running.- Speed changes in proportion to input frequency, supporting 72 RPM at 60 Hz and 60 RPM at 50 Hz for the 72 RPM model group.- Starting and running current do not flow through the rotor, with operation based on synchronous magnetic interaction between stator windings and rotor.
- Rated input is 120 VAC, 50/60 Hz, 0.3 A for the SS50 configuration.- Minimum running torque is 50 oz-in in the ratings table.- Minimum holding torque is 50 oz-in with one winding on and 80 oz-in with two windings on.- Current per winding is 0.15 A, with 50 VDC per winding listed in the specifications table.- Maximum radial force is 15 lb, maximum axial force is 15 lb, and net weight is 3 lb.
- Suited for fixed-speed motion systems using synchronous motor control.- Appropriate for automation assemblies requiring documented SLO-SYN holding torque behavior.- Fits installations built around 34D frame SLO-SYN AC synchronous motor configurations.
