Banner SBF1 Multi-Beam high-speed fiber optic scanner block delivers reliable glass fiber photoelectric sensing for small, fast parts in modular Multi-Beam systems.
Banner SBF1 Multi-Beam High-Speed Fiber Optic Scanner Block
The Banner SBF1 is a modular high-speed fiber optic scanner block that forms the sensing head of a Multi-Beam photoelectric system. It houses the infrared emitter, receiver, and amplifier in a compact, reinforced housing and connects to Banner glass fiber optic assemblies for precise opposed, retroreflective, or diffuse sensing in demanding industrial environments.
Why It HelpsBy separating the sensing block from the power and logic electronics, the SBF1 gives users a flexible, serviceable platform for building custom Multi-Beam sensor configurations. When paired with compatible Banner power blocks, logic modules, and glass fiber optics, it delivers fast, repeatable detection of small or fast-moving targets without requiring a complete sensor replacement when application requirements change. The integrated alignment aid and rugged housing further reduce commissioning time and help maintain reliable operation on busy production lines.
Key Highlights
High-speed fiber optic scanner block for Multi-Beam systems, enabling rapid detection of small parts, gear teeth, and registration marks when used with suitable glass fiber assemblies.
Modular architecture allows users to select the preferred Multi-Beam power block, logic module, and fiber optic cables, simplifying configuration changes and maintenance across a machine or line.
Infrared glass fiber design supports opposed, retroreflective, and diffuse sensing modes, so a single scanner block can be adapted to different machine layouts and part geometries.
Built-in Alignment Indicating Device (AID™) uses a top-mounted LED that responds to received signal strength, helping installers quickly align fiber heads and optimize sensing margins.
Reinforced housing and industrial environmental sealing support deployment in typical plant-floor environments where dust, vibration, and electrical noise are present.
System CompatibilityThe SBF1 operates as part of the Banner Multi-Beam modular sensor family and must be combined with a Multi-Beam power block and, where required, a logic module. It is designed for use with Banner glass fiber optic assemblies, including individual and bifurcated cables commonly used in opposed, retroreflective, and diffuse sensing. Upper cover UC-F provides the optical interface for fiber assemblies on SBF1 and related fiber scanner blocks, supporting a broad selection of standard Banner glass fibers.
ApplicationsTypical applications for the SBF1 include small-part presence detection, gear and sprocket tooth sensing, counting on high-speed conveyors, and registration sensing where glass fiber optics offer mechanical flexibility or access to tight spaces. Integrated into a properly selected Multi-Beam power and logic combination, the SBF1 provides a dependable, application-driven sensing solution that can be maintained and reconfigured without replacing the entire sensor system.
